The aim is to provide you and your horse with a weekend of intensive training whilst giving you the opportunity to meet other riders with a passion for dressage. The weekend will combine test riding, lessons and discussions about training techniques and all aspects of dressage. The Camp is designed for all combinations of rider from Walk and Trot to Advanced Level affiliated or unaffiliated. You do not need a flashy warmblood, just the desire to learn and improve!
On Day 1 riders' ride a test at the level of their choice in front of a BD accredited Judge and get the rare, invaluable, opportunity to discuss the marks achieved. Too often you can look at a sheet and wonder why? Well this is the time to find out! What's more each test is videoed so you can see as well!!! Much as this might not be an appealing prospect, it is important that you can be constructively critical of your riding noting the good and areas requiring improvement to gain those vital marks. Baileys Horse Feeds will also be available to give riders advice on feeding their horse to gain the best results!
Following the test riding each rider has a training session with international dressage rider Daniel Watson and BHS reserve young instructor of the year 08, Alex Wyatt BHS II SM and trainer of riders from grass roots to international small tour. With an emphasis on correct training, Daniel and Alex will help each rider to improve the issues that arose in the test and their horse's general way of going. The day then comes to a close with an evening meal and discussion on training methods, systems, breeding and all things dressage…Oh and the dreaded VIDEO'S! The camp closes with a demo from Daniel and Alex on the FGStud horses, displaying the winning results of correct training from the youngsters through to international competition whilst making it enjoyable for both horse and rider! August Camp Day 1 runs in much the same way as the other camps but Day two is slightly different: in the morning riders have a choice of a group 'pole work for dressage' or 'dressage for jumping' lesson with Alex. Pole work and jumping are a realy useful way of training dressage horses and no horse can jump successfully without a good way of going on the flat! The sessions are aimed to give riders and horses more fun and interesting ways of training and improving. In the afternoon Daniel and Alex work with the group on improving the test riding from day one - breaking the test down into pieces to gain thoes all important marks. The group will also get to see the test from the judges point of view and gain understanding as to how the marks are allocated. And finally Day 3! Combinations will ride the test from Day 1 in front of a BD accredited Judge... hopefully the work from the previous two days will influence the marks and the judge will highlight areas where even more marks can be gained for higher percentages! Each test will be videoed once again so that riders can compare the test riding from day 1 to day 3. The camp will then come to a close with a demo from Daniel and Alex showing how they work together to get results and enjoy it! All horses and riders are welcome - It doesn't For the May and July Camps Day 2 continues from the training sessions in day one, where Daniel and Alex build on the work achieved previously. The aim is to encourage, educate and motivate riders, to feel more confident when riding their horse at home or for competition, so more can be gained from each training session in the future.
